PT INR test is for people:
Taking warfarin or when they have unexplained or prolonged bleeding or inappropriate blood clotting
Main purpose of the PT INR test:
To help detect and diagnose a bleeding disorder or excessive clotting disorder
To monitor how well the blood-thinning medication (anticoagulant) warfarin (Coumadin®) is working to prevent blood clots
Sample Required:
Blood sample drawn from a vein
Blood from a fingerstick (sometimes)
